TALK by Herve Koubi
Start Date: 10/11/2017Start Time: 4:15 PM
End Date: 10/11/2017End Time: 5:00 PM

Event Description:
French choreographer Hervé Koubi will be giving a talk in advance of the Philadelphia premiere of his dance adaptation of Yasmina Khadra’s Ce que le jour doit a la nuit. (What the day owes to the night)

A graduate of the prestigious Rosella Hightower's dance center in Cannes, Koubi founded the Compagnie Hervé Koubi in 2001. It is an all-males company of Algerian and African dancers which has been touring extensively all over France, Europe and Russia. Ce que le jour doit a la nuit is a highly physical, stunningly fluid work that combines capoeira, martial arts, urban and contemporary dance with powerful imagery evocative of Orientalist paintings and the stone filigree of Islamic architecture.

This conference is organized with the support of the French and Francophone section of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.
