We will be meeting in the Cornell Seminar Room, which is on the first floor of Cornell Library.

*What is "open access"?
Open access (OA) is the free, immediate, online availability of research or resources coupled with the rights to reuse these resources fully in the digital environment. See also "open data," "open education"

*Why does openness matter?
Making resources openly accessible removes the barrier of cost in the pursuit of knowledge. Open access can raise the visibility of research, improve public health, facilitate collaboration among researchers, and enable global participation in research. Open data can facilitate new discoveries and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. Open educational resources remove textbook costs from education, which can lead to reduced drop rates for classes and increased retention rates overall.
