Travels at 12:30: Ancient Studies: Japan

Event Description:

Join the Longwood Graduate Program Class of 2016 as they recount their travels through Japan researching traditional Japanese horticultural techniques. They were charged with the task of exploring and documenting specific techniques to share with Longwood Gardens staff. Fellows met with experts at gardens, nurseries, and temples to explore techniques in bonsai, chrysanthemum bonsai, giant ikebana, and persimmon culture and are excited to share their experience! 

Free and open to the public, Travels at 12:30 is an informal way to share what has been seen and discovered in various gardens and natural spaces both in the United States and abroad. Held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Lang Performing Arts Center Cinema at Swarthmore College.
