Travels at 12:30: Survivors of Galapagos
Start Date: 2/19/2015Start Time: 12:30 PM
End Date: 2/19/2015End Time: 1:30 PM

Event Description:

Located 600 miles off the coast of South America and 1 degree south of the equator, the Galápagos Islands lay in the Pacific Ocean, isolated from human contact for thousands of years. Upon discovery, the archipelago has been subject to varying degrees of human reaction to the unknown from “Hell on Earth” to the “Enchanted Islands.” Join Grace Byrne, 2014-2015 Education Intern, as she retraces the steps of Charles Darwin and discovers a series of survivors.

Free and open to the public, Travels at 12:30 is an informal way to share what has been seen and discovered in various gardens and natural spaces both in the United States and abroad. Held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Science Center Room 101 at Swarthmore College.
