Swarthmore Hillel: Israel-Palestine Student Story Panel
Start Date: 2/26/2015Start Time: 5:30 PM
End Date: 2/26/2015End Time: 7:00 PM

Event Description:
When it comes to Israel-Palestine you've heard from politicians, activists, rabbis, and probably your weird uncle -- but how often have you actually heard from your fellow students? On February 26, come to Bond Hall for dinner from Aria and an Israel-Palestine event like no other. Swarthmore Hillel is proud to present a Jewish student panel featuring Leonie Cohen '16, Damella Dotan '15, Rachel Flaherman '16, Amit Schwalb '17, and Jessica Seigel '16, who will share personal stories about their relationships to Israel, Palestine, and the conflict. Whether you've studied the Israel-Palestine conflict for years or aren't sure where to begin, this panel offers a unique opportunity for interesting conversation, increased understanding, and personal growth with fellow students across the political spectrum - all delivered through narrative. Without promising any answers, this storytelling event aims to help us as a community understand the complexity and ambiguity inherent in this conflict. The five storytellers will present us with their emotional truths, diverse perspectives, and personal experiences. We hope this event will help others share their own narratives, and perhaps challenge us all to an empathic imagining. Facilitated by the incomparable Abby Holtzman '16, this panel kicks off Swarthmore Hillel's semester of open programs designed to facilitate productive conversation and personal growth with regards to Israel, Palestine, and the conflict between students across the political spectrum.
