Transmedia vs Fan Media - A Talk by Francesca Coppa
Start Date: 3/6/2013Start Time: 7:00 PM

Event Description
Francesca Coppa is Professor of English and the founding director of Film Studies at Muhlenberg College, where she teaches courses in dramatic literature, performance studies, and mass media storytelling. Contrasting the current transmedia vogue for telling a single story across multiple platforms with the longstanding fannish history of transforming a single story into millions of “what ifs,” her talk explores the ways in which fan-produced works often change the world to reflect neglected realities of gender, race, and sexuality.
