Marginalia: the remains of readers' reactions
Start Date: 4/4/2016 All Day
End Date: 5/2/2016

Event Description:

Marginalia are the annotations a reader makes in the margins of a text, often to engage with the text or respond to it. However, marginalia can take a variety of forms, from the artistic to the asinine. From the inscriptions of poets like Walt Whitman to the mysterious markings we find in secondhand books, instances of marginalia can be as diverse and varying as the readers and texts that give rise to them. These examples, and more, in the hand of the well-known and the anonymous are currently on exhibition in McCabe Library, curated by Cara Ehlenfeldt '16. Opening reception Tuesday, April 5th at 5pm McCabe Library Level II Exhibition Space
