Management Development - Emotional and Social Intelligence (E&SI)
Start Date: 4/24/2017Start Time: 10:00 AM
End Date: 4/24/2017End Time: 1:00 PM

Event Description:

For the past three years, the Office of Human Resources has offered a management development training series to interested supervisors over the spring semester. This spring, we hope to enhance the leadership toolbox for our managers by offering continuing education courses throughout the 2017 spring semester.  In this next session,  we will explore the E&SI Model, with the associated competencies, as developed and discussed by Daniel Goleman, Richard Boyatzis and Annie McKee in their 2002 book Primal Leadership:

·          Self-Awareness

·         Self- Management

·         Social Awareness

·         Relationship Management

By contrasting emotions with IQ, we will link competencies to more effective management and leadership. During this interactive session, we will discuss the association between the brain and behavior, using individual and small group interactive activities to illustrate Self-Awareness and Self-Management. Participants will, through reflective activities, identify potential areas for personal and professional development.
