Management Development- Creating Space for Inclusion: Strategies for Embracing Our Whole Selves and
Start Date: 5/24/2017Start Time: 12:30 PM
End Date: 5/24/2017End Time: 4:00 PM

Event Description:

For the past three years, the Office of Human Resources has offered a management development training series to interested supervisors over the spring semester. This spring, we hope to enhance the leadership toolbox for our managers by offering continuing education courses throughout the 2017 spring semester.

In this next session, we will co-construct a space that welcomes our whole selves, allowing us to authentically connect with one another across differences in identity, perspectives, and experiences. We will introduce current issues using multimedia to elicit multiple thoughts and feelings among members of our community. Through grounding exercises, facilitated dialogue, and skills-based practice, we will work toward discovering our personal beliefs and assumptions, enabling us to better embrace diverse perspectives.  We will use the framework of authentic dialogue to strategize ways of creating space for inclusion throughout our campus community.

This program has been developed in partnership with the Social Justice Initiative at the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research (GSSWSR) at Bryn Mawr College.

Objectives:

  • Build greater awareness of individual thoughts and feelings
  • Share and welcome multiple perspectives on current issues
  • Use dialogue to build bridges across our experiences
  • Learn models for heartfelt and respectful dialogue
  • Practice skills for creating connection with others
