The Aydelotte Foundation’s popular Second Tuesday Cafe series returns — this time with a focus on the 2016 presidential election. Co-convened by Carol Nackenoff (Professor, Political Science) and Sa’ed Atshan (Visiting Assistant Professor, Peace & Conflict Studies), 2016-17 cafes will provide interdisciplinary perspectives on critical issues underlying the campaign, and the likely consequences of the election on domestic and foreign affairs.
Topics may include prospects for Supreme Court appointments and decisions; the debate over climate change and movements for climate justice; economic insecurity, growing inequality, political frustration and the Trump phenomenon; American conservatism today; issues of race, gender and LGBT rights; the meaning of the election in and for the Middle East; and the relationship between religion and politics.
Events are geared for individuals with no particular formal background. The only requirement is curiosity. Talks will last about 35 minutes, allowing plenty of time for Q&A.

This month's cafe features Visiting Assistant Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies Sa'ed Atshan on "The US Presidential Election: A View from the Middle East."

Pamela Shropshire, pshrops1@swarthmore.edu, 610-690-3560

Kohlberg : Kohlberg, Scheuer Room

Aydelotte Foundation, Home Page Highlight, Lecture/Talk/ Reading/ Panel

Swarthmore Faculty & Staff Only

05/09/2017

")
